History

RPS was founded in 1970 as the first professional environmental consultancy in the UK. Since this time, the company has grown to now employ 4500 people in 10 countries and provide a wide range of services to projects in many parts of the world.

RPS Group Plc has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1987 and is a FTSE 250 company.

Australian operations commenced in 2003, coinciding with the beginning of RPS’ major expansion into the energy sector. RPS acquired a number of specialist businesses in Australia, including EDR Hydrosearch, Troy Ikoda, BBG, Cambrian, ECL, Ecos, Harper Somers O’Sullivan, SARP, Geocon, Metocean, Koltasz Smith, RBA and Conics.

RPS’ most recent Australian acquisition was water resource and environmental consultancy, Aquaterra in 2010.

Today, around 900 professional and technical staff work from 27 locations in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. Our focus is on providing world-class local solutions in energy and resources, infrastructure, environment and urban growth.
